My mom is in need of a new fun car. Her current is a 2009 mini cooper S ‘vert stickshift shes had since new that she absolutely adores. She wants something with a stickshift and a droptop. Price isn’t really a factor.
She had a new mini loaner car and hated it, it was huge and fat and ugly.
What manual convertible fun cars should she consider?
Porsche 911
Porsche Boxster (ill tell her to look at the v6es)
Miata/fiata
Jag F-type
Corvette (probably not, shes not really a huge fan of my dads)
Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio
Anything else?
Dad has a rule against Italian cars, but this can probably be worked around

Jag F-Type. Slick car.

I think your picture is the correct one: a Porsche 718 S with a stick.

I mean, if you want her to have a practical car, get the F-type coupe, not the convertible, or the 911 of any vintage.
other than that, F type rules.

If you are looking at the 500 or Miata maybe a Focus ST or Fiesta ST?

Boxster or F-Type convertible. If she cares about looks then she’ll definitely go for the jag.

No pony car(s)?
If this is a second car, Miata/Fiata or Boxster.

M240i convertible seems to fit the bill pretty well...
But if she can afford a Boxster S, I really see no reason to consider anything else.

Price not a factor you say.

Some Porsche purist other than myself might scold you for saying a Boxster has a V6.

The Aston Martin would be a great choice. Worth looking into:

Flat six boxster is what you meant.
But if she’s never driven one (or more specifically heard one) before, she’ll be fine with the new 718 turbo four.

Boxster seems like the right choice. F-type is probably the 2nd best choice. I would try them both. I am leaning toward the F-type on looks.

A 335is convertible would be a fun and pretty affordable choice. Still has hydraulic steering, twin turbos, available DCT or 6MT. Also, regular adults can fit in the back of it.

Nah. I don’t like verts, and I’ve got a 325i.

Another Kzoo oppo?

No I’m actually on the east side of MI. Was looking through the r3v classifieds for a vert and that was the first one I found.

TEST DRIVE ALL THE CARS!
I’m looking forward to the day that price isn’t really a factor...

I think the boxter is the right answer, or a convertible 911 if she wants more room. I think that is all that will scratch the small car itch. Miata would too but if money is no issue, then why?
Idk though, 370z convertible maybe? really noncompetitive with the ‘murican cars but smaller overall.

Agreed

Did/do you get the Z4 and TT(R)S in manual flavour in the US? Otherwise Boxster S.
If she’s hardcore: Elise or 4C . EDIT: no manual 4C. Still, get her to try one if you can.

Get a CPO F-Type V6 S! Earlier convertibles are much cheaper now and in the mid $50k range.
If you get one of the earlier ones, make sure it has the dynamic pack or had the sports exhaust optioned. You can tell if the car has one by looking for the button near the shifter.
The 981 Boxster S is also a good option. But you again have to look at the options list/centre console to see if it has a sports exhaust and other go fast bits. Porsche has a lot of options and prices have held up, because the new Boxster has a flat four (aka Poobaru - is good, sounds not that good)
Thing is, the F Type is more of a muscle car and cruiser than everything else on the list. So y’all have to decide what kinda car she wants first.
